Sorry all, this is just a quick question I promised my friend I'd ask.
Who here has a lap top, and if you have one, what brands do you recommend? What do you suggest people avoid?
And now, to keep it on topic: Cins eats young, virgin men when the sun goes down. It's cool though; they like it.

I thought I told you to keep my private life OFF THE BLOG!!!
Shit, there goes tonight's hunting. I'll have to put on the nun's costume to lure them in now.
I LOVE my Toshiba Satellite A305-S6908. Best computer EVER!!! I previously had a Spartan; it literally fell apart. My husband's work Laptop is a Dell. He says, "Get anything but a Dell."
Brands I like: Dell (Inspirons) and Apple (MacBooks).
Reasons: They both have excellent service plans and extended warranties which are a near necessity if you plan to actually travel with your laptop. If your laptop is just going to ask like a replacement desktop, then this is less of a worry.
Brands Suggested To Me: IBM
Reasons: They don't break down, unlike Apple and Dell. But Apple and Dell are both fairly easy to fix.
As for avoiding: Toshiba, Sony Vaios
Reasons: While decent laptops, I know nothing of their service plans and from a help-desk point of view, they're a pain in the butt to fix.
Cins: I say go for the Indy costume, with a nun's habit over it. ;)
Cins: Oh c'mn you love a challenge and you know it! This is why you need to invest in a corset! Pair it WITH the nuns habit and BAM! Scarf-city!
Thanks, guys! Keep any recommendations and warnings you have coming this way; she's never had a lap-top before and is a tad over-whelmed.
I would have to agree with Nojh (except I only use Macs when I'm feeling masochistic)... Dell has a great service plans. I have had 3 or 4 Dells in a row. Not that you care probably... but they typically have very good linux support as well.
That really depends on what you want to do, an if you want to use previous software or get different software.
